The Competition

It has been a few of months since Major found out that Alecia is pregnant. I’m trying my best to be supportive and to not be a bitch but sometimes I can’t help it. He has a texting app that he uses to text her whenever she wants to tell him something about a doctor’s appointment which he has been footing the bill for because she claims her insurance switched companies, and she doesn’t like the new policy. That alone is already irritating but what more can I do? I told him I wanted him to change his number and I didn’t want her to be able to contact him as easily and he agreed. It wouldn’t have been like that, but I found her trying to text him all times of the night for nonsense. She knows damn well he is with me; she just wants to try to do anything she can to get his attention. But I already knew what to expect from her annoying ass.

She got mad as hell yesterday when I took Major’s phone and texted her back. He wasn’t around and she was blowing his phone up. I told her he would be back in an hour and she needed to chill with texting my man so much. She called me all types of hoes and names and tried to throw it in my face that she was going to be his baby mama, and that he was going to leave me to get back with her. It did get under my skin a little bit. That is what I’m ultimately afraid of happening. But Major keeps trying to reassure me that he doesn’t want her. I am trying my hardest to trust him. My trust is very fucked up; but clearly I have good reasons.

Major had left to run some errands and I was at his house preparing to cook and clean for him. I have been spending a lot more time over here and my parents have been picking on me, telling me we might as well get married. I told them baby steps. They don’t even know that he’s going to have another child on the way. I haven’t told him yet. Shit I’m still trying to process it. Just as I was getting ready to vacuum the living room floor, there was a knock at the door. When I looked out the people I saw that it was ginger. I suck my teeth because I was not expecting her ass to be here! I haven’t spoken with her much since her confession about what happened between her and Khalid. Every once in a while, she will try to text me or comment on something I post on social media. I just keep it short and brief. I can’t lie and say that I don’t miss talking to my best friend, but it’s hard. Annoyed, I opened the door.

“Can I help you?” I ask.

“Lyric cut the crap! Don’t treat me like I’m a stranger.
